BuddyHi Linda Here are some pics of Buddy for your happy endings page. Thank you for giving us such a lovely boy. We all adore him and he has settled in quite happily as you will see from the pix. Lady has taken to him in a big way and even allowed him to lick her ears without growling although he gets a bit much from time to time and she has to put him in his place with a few nips. We have had only two scraps when there was food being prepared but nothing major. They are both obsessed by balls and rope toys and we are training him not to eat shoes. He has mastered the dog door and we have fewer and fewer “accidents” in the house. When Dharma the kelpie visited for the weekend the three dogs got on fine with lots of games and Buddy has also been really good with the neighbors’ small children. He doesn’t cringe as much when you put your hand down to pat him and he is responding well to lots of cuddles and love although I wonder whether he will ever forget being abused. He has calmed down a bit and doesn’t do that frantic jumping in your face anymore. Our local vet who removed his stitches though he was fabulous and said she knew why the vet the pound took him to wouldn’t put him down. She also though he was only about 18 months old and said he needed to put on more weight but told me I’m not to let him get fat like Lady! He has established his place on our bed at night although he is partial to the girls’ beds too and we all feel like he has been a part of our lives forever. So thank you for finding us for him and he says thanks he likes his forever home!

Hi Linda and Jan I thought I would email you this pic of life in our household which shows that Buddy is now on top of the world! No wonder Julian says he wants to come back in his next life as one of our dogs. Buddy is doing really well and we all adore him. The weeing in the house and on beds seems to have stopped, especially with the warmer weather so I do think it was just too cold to go outside and it was up to us to make sure he went regularly. (Thanks for the advice Jan). He eats like a horse but is really lean because he runs it off as he is crazy about balls. As you will see from the photo, Lady is the staffy shape I am more used to but the vet is happy with his weight and says he is very healthy. Dharma the kelpie has been living with us for two months as her owner is overseas and she and Buddy are best friends – both ball mad and both enjoy rushing around the garden playing with each other. He makes us laugh so much and we can’t imagine our lives without him. Thanks again and keep up the good work you are doing. Best regards |
